Occlusal Equilibration Webinar

Dr Ken Peters from the University of Colorado, School of Dental Medicine will join us on the 11 January 2026 for a Zoom webinar.
He'll be discussing the typical occlusal appliances most commonly made, what features should be in that appliance, how to fit them, how to adjust them, how to make them comfortable for our patients, and how to manage them for therapeutic purposes.
You will learn how do you manage an appliance when trying to deal with the occlusion related disorders that we commonly see, as well as a strategy for getting them back out of that appliance via occlusal equilibration.
Dr. Ken Peters will discuss the rationale for occlusal equilibrations and how do to go about doing one.
Aims:
- familiarise the delegate with various occlusal appliances
- familiarise the delegate with the functional features of an occlusal appliance
- highlight what problems can be encountered when fitting and managing occlusal appliances
- deepen the knowledge of the treatment option: equilibration
Objectives:
- improve the knowledge to help troubleshooting when working with occlusal appliances
- improve skill set when discussing treatment options with patients particularly in regard to equilibrations
- understand in some detail what the goal of performing an equilibration is and to determine at what stage the patient would be deemed ready for this procedure.
Dr Ken Peters Bio
Kenneth Peters D.D.S. graduated from the University of Colorado in 1984 and has been a member of the IPSO faculty since 2002. He is currently a full time Associate Faculty member of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Prior to his academic career, he maintained a private practice in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, focusing on restorative dentistry, occlusion, and TMD. Dr. Peters is also involved in organized dentistry, having served on the Boards of the American Equilibration Society, the Colorado Dental Association, and the Metro Denver Dental Society. He is a Past President of AES, the Colorado Dental Association, the Metro Denver Dental Society, and the Colorado Prosthodontic Society. He is a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and a Fellow of both the American and International College of Dentists. He enjoys playing “golf,” and spending time with his wife Teresa, son Scott, and Daughter Andrea.
