Specialist in Stomatology from the University Complutense de Madrid (UCM) where he graduated in 1986 (Medicine) and in 1989 (Stomatology). In 1990, he moved to the United States, where he spent 2 years completing his postgraduate studies in Restorative Dentistry at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. During this period, he was President of his class (International Dental Studies Program) and he was named member of TKO Honorary Societies of the University of the Pacific and OKU of the American Dental Association.
He also received the Leadership Prize awarded by the aforementioned university. He graduated Cum Laude in June 1992 and came back to Spain to study a postgraduate degree in TMJ at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon in Madrid. He travelled again to California in 1994 for a residence in TMJ and Orofacial Pain at the University of California in San Francisco.
From 1995 until 2002 he was in charge of the TMJ Unit of the Stomatology Service of the Clinic de la Concepción (Fundación Jiménez Díaz).
Currently, MD de la Hoz is an Active Member (formerly the President) of the Spanish Society of Craniomandibular Dysfunction and Orofacial Pain (2010-2013), Active. Member of the American Dental Association, Member the Education Committee and President of the European Academy of Craniomandibular Dysfunction, Member and Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, Holder of a Diploma and Member of the Examination Committee of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, Member of the Spanish Society of Stomatology Prosthesis and of the Spanish Society of Pain. He currently runs his own private clinic in Madrid dedicated to Restorative Odontology and the treatment of patients with Craniomandibular Dysfunctions and Orofacial Pain. He is a Professor and the Coordinator of the Master’s program in Orofacial Pain and Craniomandibular Dysfunction of the Faculty of Medicine of the University San Pablo CEU of Madrid.
He has published several articles, collaborated on books, presented papers and runs national and international courses.
